Come come, let me narrate my saturday trip to Kota tinggi to all of you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fireflies are so so pretty ....
The sychronised flashing of lights... In the dark mangrove areas...
Initially, when I was told that, we will be takin sampans into the mangrove area to see the fireflies, I sense a tinny bit of fear. Haha..
Perhaps I had been watchin too much of "Anacondas" movies, ya? ;)
Anyway, regardless what, we proceed there...
Supposed to meet Mich @ 6.25am @ her void deck (She just stayed opp. my block)
as we need to reach Singtel Comcentre by 7am. but I cant wake up in time~!
Reason why ?
The night before, went to celebrate shirley's birthday @ Mdm Wong.
Reached home ard 2.30am, and still managed to wash up, pack my stuffs for the next day and cook myself a packet of maggie mee, before going to la-la land @ 3.50am.
(Well, I'm not drunk as I did not drink much la)
so that left me with only 2 hr to sleep. (As I had planned to wake up @ 5.30am to prepare etc)
But ....
I woke up @ 6.30am lor ...
super late sia ....
Faster wash up and slight make-up before rushin off to take cab to Comcentre.
(Okay, in the rush, I had no time to bathe, but ... I had just bathed 2.5 hr ago, not smelly okay? Hee..)
Lucky I'm just in time, else I sure kick myself dead.
Well, accordin to the itienary, we supposed to have our breakfast @ 8.30am @ Taman Sentosa.
But guess what, we are still caught in the jam @ 9.30am ...
(Note: The jam is not @ the causeway, but @ a traffic junction lor. concluded, not all parts of Singapore are so systematic to follow traffic light lor)
End up, we had our breakfast @ 11am @ Giant the Supermart. (didnt manage to go Taman Sentosa afterall)
Before I continue further.
"Taman" in malay means "Garden".
continued ...
When we were done, and going to proceed back to the coach,
Platter plitter..
A heavy downpour of rain sia ...
(That makes us worried, coz in the rain, you wont get to see fireflies, but normally, after a heavy downpour the fireflies will come out even more)
We were too frantic as the day still early la.
Next destination, Desaru fruit farm.
Its a 1.5 hr journey there.
So what we do on the coach? Sleep lor. Hee...
The roads were real bumpy though. Thus wakin up every now and then, only to doze back again.
Over @ the Desaru Fruit farm, we saw several animals and of coz, fruits~!
Well, I took some pictures but as usual, pictures wont be up so soon. (I try to upload asap, okay?)
There's durian trees, honey orange trees, Jambu and others.
Then there's turkeys, swans, goose...
Tell all of you, one of the turkeys, so damn vain ...
Where we walked, he followed, and we aimed camera @ him, he stand @ an angle and allowed us to take shots @ him~!
(Why I know its a he, one may ask. Coz males are normally more colorful then females, that's why... common sense tells you that~!)
After the fruit farm, we travelled back 1.5 hr to have our seafood lunch.
And.. it suckz... ~!
Seafood not fresh, food not nice... Eeekkk....
Then, we proceed to Ostrich Farm to see what?
Ostriches la .. heee...
Of coz, we stepped on the egg, to make sure it can withstand the weight, and it did~!
Cool..
There's a small chimpazane there too ...
I had bought a small sonveiner there. An ostrich feather bookmark. =)
Then, we travelled another 1.5 hr Kota Tinggi Shopping Center to shop for 30min.
Then to proceed to makan dinner. *Err.. Food also not bery fantastic lor*
After dinner, its the main thing of the whole trip. Fireflies~!
Then the tour guide, so sickening. Keep askin us to hasten up, so that we can be the first group to view the fireflies thus can go home early.
I dont mind, but the problem is ... Its still so bright, how to see fireflies??
Kaozz... We slowly dilly-dally, thus ended up the 3rd group. Haha...
But still quite bright.
Lucky the trip took 40 min, so has darkened quite a bit lor .. =)
*Its not bery dark coz there's alot of stars that night.
Think I mountain tortoise, coz I had not really see so many stars before.
Such a beautiful sight~!*
On the way there, on the sampans.
One thought came to me and I asked Mich,
"Dont here resembles the areas where 'Anancondas' is filmed?"
Haha..
Boy oh boy.. the fireflies are such sucha amazing sight~!
The lights, the flashing, how they flashes in groups, is so so beautiful.
We also realised, they seemingly like certain type of trees, esp the mangrove trees.
Now, let me tell all of you, something abt fireflies.
They feed on tree saps to survive.
And their lifespans only 14 days or 2 weeks.
Heard that, different places different duration.
some up to 2 mths~!
They only like dark places and wety place. Which is why, in Singapore ,its so hard to find fireflies.
(Still able to la, but super hard lor.)
Their scientific name is called "Lampyridae".
They are not flies but beetles.
There's actually different type of fireflies.
Er, I dont really know those I saw @ Kota Tinggi considered what type. Heee ...
How they mate depends on their lights. Some has two lights to attract more.
That's all for now, wait till I find more info on it.
Sad thing is, my camera not high-end enuff, thus didnt manage to take pictures of it. =(
Thus, can only reside in my memory.. Till I visited it again. *Yess. I planned to go again~!*
Then its home sweet home .. 1.5 hr back to Woodland causeway..
Of coz, we slp again. Nothing to do ma. heee...
Though the food sucks and in all, not seem to worth the $50,
but at being able to see fireflies, all is worth.. isnt it ?
God is such a great Creator. To create such nice and unique, special insects, to brighten up the places.
Mangrove areas, at being so dark and scary, yet having the fireflies, flashin their lights intermitently...
Giving the place such a mystic feel, that one simply relax itself.. viewin the scenary of fireflies amid the dark surrounding ...
Feel good, isnt it ?
I want to go back there again, just to see the fireflies, just to enjoy the scenaric feeling of it. The quiet feel of it ...
